About Us

Village of Love (in Swahili, Kijiji Cha Upendo) brings families already caring for orphaned children into a registered organisation where families are funded and child care is monitored.

Grace Wambui cares for eight orphaned children. These families have two things in common: they all live in extreme poverty and, remarkably, they have all taken in children orphaned through HIV/AIDS.

Village of Love enhances the efforts of these amazing orphan caregivers by providing micro-loans with small business management training, psycho-social counselling, women’s empowerment meetings, livelihoods training, life skills workshops, parenting courses, health referrals and by supplementing school fees.

Kijiji Cha Upendo (Village of Love) Children’s Project was registered in 2010 as a Community Based Organisation, Registration No. 11849 under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Services of the Government of Kenya.

In 2011, Village of Love Canada was formed to raise funds from Canadian sources. Village of Love Canada is part of the CAP Network, registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, #88898 7500 RR0001. When you donate, you receive a tax receipt from the CAP Network.
