Then, let your creativity run!

  • Make your next party “Instead of gifts this year….”

  • Have your book club read a book set in Africa. Roberta’s club raised $3,000 for Village of Love. Here’s a starter list of books by African writers. We’d love to hear your recommendations.

  • Search East African or Kenyan recipes online. Cook with your friends and donate to help Kenyan families cook and eat well. Share a recipe in the form.

  • Turn a hobby into donations. Sue collects antique jewelry at yard sales, then cleans and repairs it for selling at craft sales. Sue has donated $##,000 to Village of Love from the sales.

  • Come up with your own way to have fun and help children!

To start: Use the form to tell us about your idea. We’ll get back to you with support for your event and instructions on how to collect and submit donations.

P.S. If you’d like a speaker for your group or event, let us know. Linda Levin and others who have visited Kenya can speak about Kijiji Cha Upendo's work.

More on DIY events

    • Make it a workplace event. Laurie’s workplace friends turned “Casual Fridays” into a $1,000 fundraiser!

    • Craft for Kids – invite friends to a “by donation” crafting event.

    • Host a movie night with an African theme. Like the book club, but with popcorn! See these list of Africa-centric films to get your started.

    • If available, dine at an East African restaurant and add a donation to your evening out.

    • Use the form above to tell us about your idea. We’d love to feature your event in an upcoming newsletter.

  • Yes. Let’s talk once you tell us about your idea. There are different ways to do this, depending on your event and whether people want individual tax receipts.

  • For sure. We can figure out what works for your event and for the Village of Love team, who are also volunteers. What support is most appropriate: a speaker, a slideshow, some African crafts to sell…? Let’s talk!

  • That’s easy! Just go to our GIVE page for ways to support the work in Kenya.

  • Village of Love Canada is a volunteer organization that raises funds for Kijiji Cha Upendo.

The money you raise will go directly to the work in Kenya, supporting women who, despite their own poverty and the challenges of raising children, have taken in orphans.

Your donations will help the women start small businesses to support their families, improve family health and nutrition practices, pay for school fees so children can stay in school, and so much more. Read more about The Work in Kenya and Village of Love Canada. Thank you for your support!

  • Please use the contact form above. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you!
