"The First Grader" a great success!
| “The Village” - Nov 29, 2013The First Grader on Nov 16 drew an almost full house at the REVUE Cinema, raising close to $4,000! Here is what some folks had to say: “How did you get all these people here?” “It was very touching. We need more of these films.” “Thank you for a very thought provoking afternoon.” ” I LOVED the movie, a true testament to the horrors of war and also the incredible difference one person can make!” Thank you, everyone who came together to make this exciting event happen! Volunteer Sue Cameron looks quite at home in the REVUE Cinema box office! 200 people laughed and cried through this inspiring movie. We came away with a better understanding of life in Kenya and its education system, especially the challenges facing children living in poverty. Some lucky ones went home with great door prizes- thanks to Barque Smokehouse, Shala-mar, the Westerly, Gate 403 and Defina Pizzeria! So, what’s next? ….. Planning events like this can be fun!
